September favourites
Ok, so I’ve taken a little time away from here, but I feel refreshed and excited to practice writing again. This year has flown by. I’m not quite sure what to make of time moving so quickly — in some ways I think it means I’ve been doing things right. I’ve been busy, filling my days and weeks, out in the world, living. But in other ways, I feel slightly unsettled by how little I’ve done, and how much more I wish I could fit in or make happen within a year.
When I pause and reflect, practically speaking, I should feel good about where I’m at — I’ve done what’s within my control. I had an operation early in the year and recovered quite well. I went on my first Europe trip in a very long time — a whole month of exploring and sunshine — and I’ve just re-entered my part-time study era.
Anyway, onto some things I’ve been loving in August:
This Wi-Fi and radiation harmoniser for my phone – I don’t know if it actually works, but it’s something simple I can do that puts my mind at ease.
Chicken broth – I’ve had a cold recently and, for the first time in a long time, I’ve been able to drink bone broth without worrying about a histamine reaction. It feels so good to use food as medicine from a place of love and nourishment, rather than fear. I picked some up from my local health food shop, but making it at home is so easy.
Tapping with Brad – Alongside Joe Dispenza in my daily routine, I’ve started adding some tapping with Brad. He has a session for almost anything, and I just choose whatever I feel drawn to, depending on what I’m navigating or when I slip into negative thinking.
To Be Magnetic Authenticity Challenge – This has been so helpful in getting clear on what’s important to me and what I want to focus on in the next little while.
This Green banana flour pancake recipe – I’m making an effort to include more resistant starch in my diet at the moment, and this recipe has been such a fun way to do it.
Greek yoghurt – Ever since spending time in Greece in July, I can’t stop eating Greek yoghurt. My favourite combo is Greek yoghurt with flaxmeal, banana, cinnamon, and usually some blueberries too. Heaven. I love the Meredith Dairy Sheep Greek Yoghurt.
Camille Charrière’s Substack – Particularly this piece she wrote that really stayed with me. I love her writing, but I also related to her experience in some ways. As someone who’s been on a long healing journey, I resonated with her struggle — even though it wasn’t about the same thing. At a certain point, I realised I had to let go of constantly trying to heal. Instead of making it my full-time job, I’m choosing to actively seek out more joy.
